Overview:

With the increasing automation and complexity of processes in a Company, internal auditors are gradually being relied upon by the Board of Directors thru the Audit Committee to provide a timely and reasonable assessment on the effectiveness, efficiency and reliability of its critical processes and reports (financial and non-financial).  In most cases, internal auditors are often caught off guard with the challenges presented by this new environment.  This condition has lead to internal auditors from equipping themselves with the right capability and tools to ensure that large volume of information obtained from operations team are analyzed and processed in an effective and efficient manner.

To address these challenges, internal audit professionals began to use tools which are generally known as Computer –Assisted Audit Techniques or “CAATS.”  One of the tools that are commonly used by internal audit professionals in the Philippines is Microsoft (MS) Excel.  This course will aid internal auditors in maximizing their use of MS Excel in conducting various audit activities ranging from data understanding, importing and extracting, analysis, and reporting, among others.

The methodologies include a combination of lectures, case studies and group discussions to provide a comprehensive learning process.
