“Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace.” – Nelson Mandela
We are in deep sorrow to announce that the Institute of Internal Auditors Philippines’ (IIAP) former President, Ms. Lilian “Lily” Linsangan has joined our Creator yesterday, January 10, 2019, past 7 in the evening.
The Institute has lost one of its pillars, whom we consider the prime mover of IIAP’s academe-related initiatives having passionately advocated the internal audit profession in this sector. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Lily have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Lily leaves behind a legacy that only she could have built, and her memories will forever be engraved in our hearts. Truly, an amazing woman and human being that the world and our community lost.
Lily has over 30 years of experience as consultant and auditor. As a financial auditor, she was the Head of the Audit Division of Punongbayan & Araullo (P&A), the Philippine affiliate of Grant Thornton International, from 2003 to 2006. While she was the Head of the Audit Division, in 2003 she started the internal audit and business risks practice of P&A. In 2007, this unit became a Division, the Advisory Services Division (ASD), after merging with P&A’s Corporate Finance unit, a unit where Lily also exercised oversight responsibility for a number of years. This Division offers all consulting, advisory and audit services other than financial audit and tax. The services offered by ASD include fraud and forensics, internal audit outsourcing, risk management & corporate governance advisory, corporate finance, and technology risk consulting. Lily led the growth of this Division where she retired as the Division Head in January 2011.
No words can adequately express our sadness at Lily’s passing or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with her. We will honor her memory by dedicating ourselves to continuing the work she loved so deeply.
